Left Admits: We Were Kidding About Free Speech

After several recent incidents involving leftists seeking to intimidate or squelch speech, including physically intimidating blogger Michelle Malkin and Fox News reporter Griff Jenkins and seeking to shut down anti-Obama television advertising, the Left has officially admitted that they really don’t believe in free speech.  Official Left spokeswomyn Harold Scrottle, a transsexual, said “We routinely claim free speech as one of our guiding principles, but we can longer say that with a straight face.  Look at our embrace of bringing back the Fairness Doctrine to squelch conservative talk radio.  We on the Left like to think of ‘free speech’ as government sponsored art that involves a crucifix in urine or elephant dung on the Virgin Mary, not anyone advocating an opinion we find offensive, such as cutting taxes.”  Scrottle, who will be using the same surgeon Keith Olbermann used for his sex reassignment surgery , went on to mention college speech codes, hate crimes laws, and campaign finance reform as other examples of the Left’s lack of free speech credentials.  ”It was hard to believe that after we took those stands that anyone actually took us serious as free speech supporters.”  He went on to laugh about how the Left “will try to stifle conservatives they ridiculously label as Nazis such as Rush Limbaugh, but will defend the right of free speech of actual Nazis.” After the Left failed to defend the right of journalists to print the Muhammad cartoons, many on the Left wondered how long the charade of supporting free speech would be able to continue.  Scrottle says the decision to admit the truth was difficult, but necessary, before adding, “If you actually print this article, we will accuse you of being a fascist and against free speech.”

Herr Obama, Dummkopf

“It’s embarrassing when Europeans come over here, they all speak English, they speak French, they speak German. And then we go over to Europe and all we can say is merci beaucoup.”

That was Sen. Obama on July 8th.  Here is his speech from earlier in Berlin, Germany:

“Vielen Dank zu den Bürgern von Berlin und zu den Leuten von Deutschland. Lassen Sie mich Kanzler Merkel und Außenminister Steinmeier für Heißen willkommen mich früher heute danken. Vielen Dank Bürgermeister Wowereit, der Berlin Senat, die Polizei, und am meisten von allen vielen Dank für diesen Empfang . . . “

Oh, wait.  Obama doesn’t speak a foreign language.  He delivered this address in English in a foreign land.  I don’t think there was even a merci beaucoup in there.  How embarrassing.

Check out the always enjoyable Michelle Malkin for a look at how Obama really is a dummkopf.

UPDATE: In response to the kind comments from KC:  Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment.  When I said Obama doesn’t speak a foreign language, I was referring to Obama’s own statement: “I don’t speak a foreign language. It’s embarrassing!” My mistake for taking Sen. Obama at his word.

My criticism of Obama not speaking German in Germany was a response to his silly quote above, not because I would have been able to orate in German.  (Although after three years of studying German and visiting that beautiful country, I could have.)  Which, of course, brings us to German grammar.  In German, all nouns are still capitalized, as they once were in English.  The key phrase: IN GERMAN.

UPDATE II: Thanks for the link, Indigo Red.  Read about his further adventures here.

The Audacity of Dope

The liberals and the media, two groups perhaps too intertwined to be distinguished between, made much of the fact that President Bush declined to name any mistakes he had made.  Terry Moran, who has quite the reputation for being an unabashed left-wing ABC news reporter, challenged Sen. Obama in an interview during his European vacation on his opposition to the surge.  The surge, it should be noted, that Obama claimed would lead to increased violence, but instead played a significant part in the incredible Iraqi turnaround.  In fact, Obama would probably not be able to even visit Iraq if it wasn’t for the surge.  Yet Obama repeatedly told Moran that he would not reconsider his opposition despite the evidence against him.

President Bush has also faced repeated mocking, much of it deserved, for his lack of articulacy.  That may be one reason for the ascendancy of Obama; liberals yearn for a president that won’t embarrass them every time he opens his mouth.  It is well known that Obama (pronounced jee-zuh s) is a stirring orator, in the tradition of Lincoln, Churchill, and Reagan.  And yet we don’t see much reported on the uh, well, uh . . . inability of Obama to communicate artfully without a teleprompter.

But Bush is not only inarticulate, according to his bashers; when he is able to articulate an idea, he is often inaccurate or mistaken.  He is, they claim, a verbal gaffe machine, even inspiring a book on “Bushisms.”  The latest DNC talking point, faithfully repeated, I mean reported, by the media, is that Sen. McCain is also continually making gaffes, although not because of a lack of intellect similar to that suffered by Bush, but because McCain is tired and confused (hint, hint).  As I write this, Anderson Cooper opened his show on CNN this evening by stating that McCain had made a possibly “game changing” mistake during an interview on the surge (more on that tomorrow).  Obama has made several mistakes, some quite bizarre, that go beyond anything that Vice President Quayle ever did.  For instance, Obama referred to the 57 states that he visited and the 8 to 10 years he plans on being president.   As Michelle Malkin started reporting earlier this year, there are quite a few others.  This is not the audacity of hope; this is the audacity of the hypocrisy of the Left, from the media to politicians to voters, who lack even an ounce of intellectual consistency or honesty.
