Your valiant effort at composing a German text for Herr Obama, der neue Heiland,was appreciated although the grammar needs a little fine tuning. I lived and worked in Austria and Germany for nearly 13 years. I know berlin well and the area around the Siegessaeule where he spoke. There is no way that 200,000 people were gathered there. The German second channel ZDF estimated 20,000 just before the speech began. Obama’s people came up with the phony and widely used 200,000 figure. A crowd that large would have stretched all the way to the Kurfuerstendamm in western berlin.
